How To Guarantee The Best Seat in Sydney This 2015 New Years Eve

Ah New Years Eve. That one time of the year when all is forgiven and, thanks to the magic of alcohol most is also forgotten. It’s also that time of the year when it seems as if every resident in the country has decided that this is the year they are going to make their way into town to watch the midnight fireworks show.

Wait, wasn’t that last year?

Now when it comes to New Years Eve, making sure you have made solid plans for the evening is crucial! I don’t care whether  you are celebrating New Years in Sydney, Paris, New York – even Timbuktoo. If you fail to plan, then you plan to…miss out on all the fun basically. :p Why?

With over 1.5 million people expected to make their way down to Sydney Harbour on New Years Eve  you can only imagine how crowded and chaotic it is going to get. Similar numbers can be expected in Paris and New York, Timbuktoo on the other hand may be a little quieter but I digress.
Finding a vantage point to watch the fireworks therefore becomes a nightmare as people start camping out and taking the best spots up to 5 days in advance. 5 days! Crazy.

Avoid The Sydney Crowds This 2015 New Years Eve

How would you like to NOT have to wait for 5 days to guarantee  yourself a great vantage point on New Years Eve?
How would you like to guarantee yourself the best seats in the house with uninterrupted views of the fireworks this 2015 New Years Eve?

Sydney New Years Eve Cruises – The Ultimate Indulgence.

Every year millions of Sydneysiders and tourists alike flock to the harbour foreshore to get a glimpse of the midnight fireworks, and every year a few thousand really savvy ones book a harbour cruise on either a private chartered boat or a ticket on one of the party boats instead. Whatever option the chose, these smart people have figured out something that most still haven’t – that a New Years Eve Cruise is by far the best option when it comes to seeing the year out in style.

Yes, But Why a Sydney New Years Eve Cruise?

Do you mean apart from the fact you are anchored on the harbour itself with uninterrupted views of the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and Sydney Harbour? 🙂

Seriously though, the views one gets when they are literally in the middle of the action is breathtaking. Not only that, the proximity to everything means you really are experiencing the true atmosphere that makes Sydney New Years so incredible.

But wait, there’s more!

No steak knives, although they are optional when you choose one of the many catered New Years Eve Cruises. Speaking of catering options…. Nice segway!

What makes a New Years Eve Cruise such a great option apart from the obvious is the cost. In fact chartering a boat for New Years Eve or buying a ticket on one of the many cruises works out to be more cost effective than a night on dry land!

Aerial view of Anzac Bridge and buildings in Sydney

As the cost of food and drink rises in Sydney, and these prices are inflated for New years it becomes increasingly expensive to enjoy a night out in town. Booking a cruise however means your ticket cost includes all food and all alcohol in cases where the cruise is chartered, and it means you are paying bottleshop and supermarket prices for your food and drink in the case of a BYO cruise.

Either way it is a win win from a monetary standpoint, and when you add the fact you are avoiding all those crowds AND guaranteeing yourself a front row seat to the show it becomes a no brainer.

So what are you waiting for? Contact Any Boat today and see 2015 out in Style with a Sydney Harbour New Years Eve Cruise.

Important tips for safe family travel during the holidays

When it comes to family travel, the best vacations are the safest ones.  Certainly, it helps when you are headed to a fantastic destination, but when all is said and done, it is the fact that everyone made it there and back without any disasters or injuries that makes for the best chances of the best getaways for great memories.

winter tires

When you’re headed out on a road trip, don’t forget that ensuring a safe vehicle is just as important as packing the right outfits to your family travel plans.  Many people don’t realize it, but topping up fluids and filling up the gas tank aren’t the only things you should be doing before you hit the road. Your tires can be a deciding factor when it comes to your vehicle safety as well as the mileage you’re able to achieve throughout your trip.

The following are some key signs to look for when deciding whether or not your tires are safe enough for your next road trip, let alone your daily commute:

  • The right weather tire – “all season” tires have a misleading name. These are only meant for all seasons if you live in a place that doesn’t experience extreme cold, ice and snow.  However, if it drops below 45º Fahrenheit where you will be driving, then you’ll be far better served by winter tires.  They’ll help you to stop 40 percent faster, have better traction and allow for better control of the vehicle as the weather gets colder and the road gets slipperier.
  • The wear – look for irregular wear on your tires. If you see it, you’ll know that your tires are not properly balanced, that your wheels are misaligned, and that your tire pressure may not be what it should be.  Use a good quality digital tire pressure gauge to keep watch on your tire pressure at the beginning of your trip, as well as every now and again along the way. Have a good look at the wear on the tread, as well.  Check it against your tread depth indicator and make sure that they have not yet fallen below 1.6 mm and that they’re not so close to that point that they’ll pass it during the road trip.
  • Cracks, blisters and bulges – cracks and blisters on the sidewall or bulges anywhere on the tire can mean that your tires are on borrowed time. These are signs that your tire is already developing a leak or that they are already too dangerous to be on the road. The only thing to do is to head out and buy new tires.  Continuing with the current ones is simply unsafe as you could lose tire pressure slowly or very quickly and without warning.

In case something does happen, have a safety tool handy.  A good quality digital tire pressure gauge may also come with features such as a glass hammer and a seatbelt cutter. Keeping that tool within reach of the driver’s seat could be the difference in providing safe family travel.

Top 5 Things to Do in Sydney

Although it’s not Australia’s capital, Sydney undoubtedly feels like it. If you have any prejudices or expectations regarding this Aussie city par excellence, it will only confirm them. Its glitzy side and the fact that always something exciting is going on there make visitors fall in love at first sight with Sydney. However, once you scratch the surface, this thrilling city only gets better! Here are  5 things you should not miss on your trip to Sydney!

Enjoy the Mesmerizing Ocean Beaches

Without at least one day at the beach, you cannot have a complete trip to Sydney. Taking an afternoon walk along the coastal path that stretches from Coogee to Bondi is the best way to feel the true taste of this city. Sydney’s eastern suburb beaches with exceptionally clean sand and water are undoubtedly one of its greatest natural joys. In June and July, southern right and humbpack whales can be sighted from the Sydney headlands on their regular migratory path from the Antarctic ocean to the warmer waters of Queensland.

Although it’s legal, topless bathing is frowned on at some beaches but accepted at others. Act like the locals do and you’ll be just fine. Around the Sydney Harbour there are two official nudist beaches.

Visit Circular Quay

The launching pad for river and harbour sightseeing boats and ferries, as well the major suburban train station, Circular Quay is located at the southern end of Sydney Cove. This place is always bustling with people enjoying themselves or commuting during the week, buskers, vendors of trinkets and newspapers. Ferries coming and going and the gentle sun reflecting on the water make for an ideal setting, especially if you enjoy a beer at a nearby bar. While strolling around the waterfront, pay attention to the Writer’s Walk, the inscribed pavement-plaques and a great introduction to the literary canon of Australia and quotes on what it means to be Aussie.

Circular Quay is the best place to start your ferry ride or sightseeing cruise. But, if you prefer to stay on dry land, most of Sydney downtown sights are at the walking distance:  the infamous Opera House, The Rocks, city’s first settlement and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

A Day Trip to Blue Mountains

UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains offer scenic viewpoint and out of the beaten track bushwalking. The region makes a lovely day trip or weekend break from the city, with eucalyptus-infused air and stunning views complemented by a wide range of restaurants, cafes and accommodation in the nearby resorts. Sydney Blue Mountain wilderness got its name from the blue mist that rises from billions of eucalyptus trees that tint the sky. In fact, in the early days of the colony, this region was believed to be an impregnable barrier to the west.

Hunter Valley Wine Tasting

Australia’s best known and oldest wine-growing region is located northwest of Newcastle, in the heart of the coal-mining country. So far from the wasteland, the Hunter Valley is the place where visitors can sample the fine wines, but taste some of the best food in Australia, too.  Check out Sydney Wine Tasting Tours to enjoy earthy and soft Shiraz and citrusy Semillon, gourmet delis, vibrant festivals and outdoor events.

Mardi Gras

The first Mardi Gras parade was held as a gay-rights protest back in 1978 and nowadays it’s the world’s biggest celebration of gay and lesbian culture. It culminates with a massive party and parade down Oxford Street usually on the first weekend of March. Participants devote weeks to prepare outrageous costumes at workshops and beautiful bodies in gyms! If you want to get a party ticket, you should plan well in advance since this Mardi Gras night-time parade attracts more than 25,000 people each year.
